Community Engagement SpecialistNorth Dakota Health & Human ServicesKatarina Domitrovich, MPH, serves as the Community Engagement Specialist with the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Community Engagement (CE) unit. Katarina is a Fargo, North Dakota resident, who stayed close to home for her undergraduate degree at Concordia College – Moorhead to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and is an alum of the University of North Dakota (UND) where she received her Master of Public Health (MPH).
Katarina joined the Community Engagement unit in June of 2021 to oversee North Dakota’s award of CDC funds to address COVID-19 disparities through contract management, collaboration with HHS colleagues, and through creating and expanding partnerships with special populations and organizations in North Dakota. Katarina is Diversity and Inclusion certified through Cornell University and has a background in lab research, grant management, team management, training presentations, and population health research and analytics. Katarina started her public health career leading the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Science’s state contact tracing team as the lead COVID-19 Case Manager during the COVID-19 pandemic and also having worked with persons with disabilities for nearly five years prior. Katarina’s current role entails working with North Dakota’s Youth Health Advisory Board, North Dakota's Health Equity Ambassador Program with state and Tribal colleges and universities, local public health units, and community organizations, and serving on state and community-level task forces and coalitions. Each day is never the same when it comes to Katarina's role, however, every day has the foundation of working with other members of the Community Engagement unit and HHS to work toward HHS’s goal: to have North Dakota become the healthiest state in the nation. |
